和大部分人的认知不同，《Invincible》最初的创作者并非拉塞尔，而是另一位暴雪音乐的奠基人贾森·海耶斯（Jason Hayes），这位天才包办了《星际争霸1》、《魔兽争霸3》和70级版本前《魔兽世界》的大部分音乐。 “《Invincible》的创作持续了10年，大家最初见到它的样子，是在《魔兽争霸3：冰封王座》的CG之中，这个版本是贾森创作的。”拉塞尔回忆到。在这部CG中，阿尔萨斯击败伊利丹后走上冰冠堡垒的王座，戴上了象征巫妖王的头盔，正式加冕为王。 这个版本的《Invincible》和“巫妖王之怒”中的版本差异较大，最明显的就是还没有加入童声独唱，赞美阿尔萨斯“无敌”的力量，因为那时阿尔萨斯还只是初代巫妖王耐奥祖的傀儡。 不过随着故事的发展，阿尔萨斯的力量愈发强大，最初的歌曲已经不再合适。因此拉塞尔决定在贾森版本的基础上进行修改，把巫妖王邪恶力量的感觉唱出来。 Neal Acree、Derek Duke也参与了拉塞尔的改编计划，分别负责成人合唱与正太独唱部分，这个阵容之豪华没有任何其它游戏音乐能比得上。 在改编中，拉塞尔大胆启用十岁左右的小正太来演唱《Invincible》，而不是找明星来唱，让这首歌有了如同赞美诗的感觉，配合游戏剧情显得更加讽刺，《Invincible》最终成为一代经典。 另一个为《Invincible》创作做出大贡献的，是暴雪御用作家克里斯蒂·高登（Christie Golden），她的小说《阿尔萨斯：巫妖王的崛起》给了拉塞尔不少灵感。最重点就是，歌曲名《Invincible》源于小说中阿尔萨斯战马的名字。 “（这匹马就是一个象征）本来阿尔萨斯能骑着“无敌”到最后，但这匹马死去了，虽然名为无敌，但它并非无敌（阿尔萨斯失去了无敌的力量）。”拉塞尔解释道，阿尔萨斯的命运与此如出一辙。
