随着高棉帝国的一步步衰弱，暹罗国逐渐成为东南亚中南半岛上的霸主，1782年4月6日，拉玛一世推翻吞武里王朝，建立拉达那哥欣王国，国力在暹罗历史上空前强大，堪比前朝。至19世纪中期，在征服了南掌（今老挝）和掸邦（今属缅甸）后，成为东南亚最强大的国家。不过，随着英国、法国入侵，国力大不如前。1913年，暹罗使用《颂圣歌》为国歌。1932年6月24日，暹罗国内发生立宪革命，改朝换代，但《颂圣歌》的影响至深，因而一直沿用至今，成为皇室颂歌。
