《金蛇狂舞》是自小受到花燈、滇劇等戲曲中心音樂薰陶的作曲家聶耳根據家鄉雲南昆明的民間樂曲《倒八板》改編而來，《倒八板》是將《老六板》的工音（mi）替換成凡音（fa），因此也亦叫作《凡忘工》。
